Ahhh I'm proud of this....For a couple reasons. First, its traditional, which I am trying to broaden my horizons in. Second, it's mostly watercolor! and Third, it's of martens which I've been trying to draw for MONTHS...since...SEPTEMBER....and only just now have gotten even the tiniest grasp. ~raemanzu and I decided around that September that our characters Maze and Kai would be martens in our kids books (which may never be written). We were thinking of doing weasels but they're too little. Martens are better proportioned to cats and rabbits which are the main characters.
So here they are after all this time. Maze is the one on the bottom and Kai on the top.
This took me 6 hours or so...its a little smaller than half the size of a sheet of paper, including the white parts. First time with watercolors in quite some time. ...Really...prolly two years O.o sheesh. Besides that I also used prismacolors a little (the eyes), micron pens, and a white paint pen.
Plus, one thing that I see you are very good at is putting blues, greens and other colors in shadows. I dont know quite how to describe it. You put color in your shadows in a way that looks natural and beautiful. Its a weakness of mine, so seing it made me really impressed!
Thank you! I tried pretty hard to make that work, so I'm really pleased you like it. Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment, it means a lot to me!
you did great ! this is lovely .. and I like the use of turquoise in the bark I'm just starting with watercolor pencils (I use brushes though, not drawing with them) and it is a wonderful experience (still I'm not good enough to upload anything yet ) keep it up
hmm i've tried those before but not seriously. I always used bad paper for that and it ripped and i got frustrated xD Keep it up though, I know some awesome things can be done with them.

The colors are bold, without being overwhelming. The pose is unique. The details are thorough, but balanced throughout. And it's just plain adorable.
Love love love love.
